5月2日，澳大利亚科技企业家克莱格·莱特(Craig Wright)对英国广播公司(BBC)表示，他正是比特币的创造者。这一消息的宣布也结束了人们对于比特币之父“中本聪”(Satoshi Nakamoto)真实身份的多年猜测。

On May 2, the Australian tech entrepreneur Craig Wright told the BBC that he was the creator of Bitcoin. The announcement also ended years of speculation about the true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, the father of Bitcoin.

BBC称，莱特通过使用属于比特币创始人所拥有的比特币，从技术角度对自己创造者的身份进行了证实。

According to BBC, Leiter technically confirmed the identity of his creator by using bitcoin belonging to the founder of Bitcoin.

报道还说，比特币社区的重要成员也已经对莱特的身份进行了证实。报道同时还表示，除了BBC，莱特还向英国《经济学人》以及《GQ》杂志发去了同样的声明。

The report also states that important members of the Bitcoin community have confirmed Leiter’s identity. The report also states that, in addition to BBC, Leiter sent the same statement to the British Economist and to the magazine GQ.

不过，《经济学人》对这一声明并不完全信服。该杂志表示：“我们的结论是，莱特先生可能是中本聪先生，但还是一些重要的问题没有定论。事实上，究竟谁才是比特币的创造者可能永远存疑。”

The Economist, however, is not entirely convinced by this statement. The magazine says, “We conclude that Mr. Leiter may be Mr. Bint, but that some important questions remain open. In fact, who is the creator of Bitcoin may be in doubt forever.”

澳大利亚税务办公室(ATO)以及警方对于此报道尚未进行置评。

The Australian Revenue Office (ATO) and the police have yet to comment on this report.
