比特币创始人中本聪的具体身份至今仍是区块链世界的一个未解之谜。2014年《新闻周刊》曾声称找到了中本聪本人，认为多利安·中本就是中本聪，但多利安否认了自己与比特币的关系，表示自己名字中的“中本聪”和人们所寻找的“中本聪”这个名字的重合，纯属一种巧合，多利安还声明《新闻周刊》这种不负责任的报道严重伤害了他和他的家人。

其实，据不少研究资料显示，这个出生日期很可能不是中本聪的真实信息，而是个充满政治隐喻的日期。1929年到1933年发生全球性的经济大衰退，这段时间被称为“经济大萧条”。在1933年4月5日这一天，美国总统富兰克林·罗斯福签署了政府法令6102，该法令规定：所有美国公民持有黄金都是非法的。
